Review: Away We Go

Posted: Jun 27th '09 to Facebook, TV/Cinema/Music by Michael Writhe

Away We Go is about a couple that decide they are free to pick up their lives and move anywhere they want to, now that a baby is on the way. They travel to different places from their past in order to locate the perfect place to grow up… I enjoyed the idea. The movie was an exploration into what different people concider a home, in an attempt to locate the main character’s new home. Hit the jump for my full review of the movie.

John Krasinski (from The Office) plays a quarky expecting father very very well. It’s just an example of the other types of comedy he is capable of. It took about half the movie in order for me to really get into the mood that the movie wanted me in… And to its downfall, the 98 minute run time just wasn’t enough… It was over just as I really started to grow attached the characters and want to know more.

May I comment on the music selection in this movie though? Fantastic. Music like Alexi Murdoc, George Harrison, and Bob Dylan was perfect for the movie and really helped put the listener into the mood of the movie… Unfortunetly due to the run time, and lack of direction for the first half-ish I feel compelled to dock it some points. I did enjoy the movie overall and I give this movie a 8 / 10.

by the way, I’m listening to Alexi Murdoc’s Song For You as I type this… can’t get it out of my head now!
