If legit, should be richer than he is: Derren Brown

Since last week there have been video’s floating all around the net of Derren Brown and how he accurately guessed the lotto numbers of the week. The video above is the actual original live broadcast of the trick. After the jump are a few explanation videos of how he pulled it off… but before you watch them give it a few minutes and see if you can figure out how he’s done it. Remember that he did start his career as a magician, and most of magician’s methods involve distraction and directing the viewer into false assumptions.

Below you can see with a little camera trickery its all fake. Even the camer shake is fake! Put it all together and this is the first example of my last point: False assumptions.

So lets apply the above video to the live broadcast and you can see evidence of him actually pulling this off in the below video.

The best video showing it is the one that found the seam between the shots though. Check the bottom video for just a funny example of how easy it would be to play with your assumptions. I guess the lesson here is that you shouldn’t assume. Remember we all know what assuming does: it makes an ass out of you and makes me laugh in your face. HA!
