Calming: Happy Monday – Aqarium

Monday November 30th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Not much needs to be said about this video. It’s a single shot at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan set to music by Barcelona. Very relaxing for a stressfull Monday morning! Good way to start the week if I do say so myself. Enjoy best in HD with FullScreen enabled.

Thanks to Vivi for sharing this one on Google Reader!

New Google Search – This is how you get in on it!

newgoogle

All the rumours that have been floating around the interwebs about Google ‘improving’ their search engine are true! Here’s how you can see the new functionality for yourself too…

  1. Click this link [here]. it may not appear to change your page, but this link sets a cookie on your machine that grants you access to the Google Beta.
  2. Go to http://www.google.com/ (if redirected to a country specific version of Google you’ll need to click Goto Google.com in the bottom right corner of the webpage). If your browser accepted the cookie, you should be able to see the new version of Google :)

Unfortunetly the cookie doesn’t let you hit 100% of the functionality yet… or any of the not.com version of Google, like Google.ca or Google.co.uk. It’s still neat to use though.

Thanks to Matt Karolian for the Tip on this one!

Oh David Thorne… you are too much.

Remember the guy who tried to pay his bills with a drawing of a 7 legged spider? Seems he wants payment from one of his clients now… This time he refuses to continue doing anymore design work until his employer decides to pay him. Read the full email string after the jump…

Thanks to Robin for the tip on this one!

Burnt out bulbs got you down? Make it a planter!

Wednesday November 25th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Here is another project that I really want to try! Infact I think I will! I’ll post pictures once it’s done… Gonna put soil in the bulb and seeds in the soil, we’ll see if it works :)

Any suggestions of what type of seeds I should plant in such a tiny space? looking for a smaller plant though. Throw me your suggestions!via Reusing Lightbulbs: as planters or mini terrariums

iLingual is actually a pretty cool app for that.

Being a loyal blackberry user myself, it’s not often that an iPhone app catches my attention but this one deserves some recognition. The idea is that you hold it up to your face and it speaks for you in a language that you can’t! Simple right? Exactly. The best part is that its a sponsored app, which makes it completely free. For those of you with iPhone/iTouches you can try it out now in the app store… of if you’re not quite sure, check the video above.

How’s that title for ya… say that 10 times without messing up! ha! Gizmodo occasionally does these photography contests, and this week’s results really caught my eye. Check out the full gallery at the link below, but there are some that are really neat. Hit the jump for a description how the non-photoshopped picture above was taken and a few of my favourites from the gallery…

Creative: Ultra-realistic sculptures!

Monday November 23rd, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

half-face

Floating around the internet currently is a collection of pictures taken of sculptures that are arguably real people just standing around and posing for the pictures. Or there is some mad photoshopping going on… either way you be the judge at the official link below. There was just too many pictures to re-post them all, so I hope their site stays up long enough to support all the traffic their receiving now. Understandably it’s gotten quite slow on their site.

Once in a lifetime

Have you ever been so close to death you didn’t even know it?! Yeah, me too. Turns out we’re not alone! Here is a video montage that is sweeping the inter-tubes right now of a series of videos where the people were VERY lucky to have survived. It’s a nice change to the stuff you’d see on break.com.

OLD: Still worth posting: Marketable: Sign Spinner

I have no idea what Jigsaw is or where booth 1112 is, but after watching this video I MUST FIND IT! That being said, this is a great idea for marketing. Ever seen the Little Ceaser’s kids at the roadside holding signs? this is one step up from that… dude spins the sign! Apparently this trick has been featured in such shows as 30 rock and MadTV, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Check it out.
