Engineering Fail: LED Stop lights can’t melt snow

Friday December 18th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Snow Covered Stoplights

Turns out the energy savings in street lights that are running the new LED Stop lights are so high that they don’t produce the much needed heat in order to melt all that snow. A few accidents and even a death are being blamed on the obstructed traffic lights. Engineering fail! Great idea, terrible follow through! …That’s what she said?

In an effort to be creative and fun, this team of looney-bin’s decided to manually change a digital clock made of wood for 24 hours. Sure it looks cool, and I’m sure you’d think it was pretty sweet if you were on the project until 5 minutes into it… Then you’d be like “God I hate my job!”. Okay someone do the math for me please, how many boards did they move in total?

Monday December 14th, 2009 in Sweet Links | 1 Comment »

Okay so I can’t be certain that the kid is 4 or not but he looks like it, and if I’ve ever been good at something it’s determining if someone is under age or not… and this kid definitely is! The kid can barely speak English, yet he plays the ukulele better than I ever will! (little bastard). It’s a great song that he’s singing though, so hit the jump for the actual music video by Jason Mraz too…

Thanks to vivi for this video!

It suggests that you use wooden skewers as ammo on this badass office crossbow, but I’m totally bending some large paperclips right now to make into darts. Too bad my assistant is on holiday’s for the next month… I’d totally have her make 6 dozen of those things! Hit the jump for the full instructions on how to make your own badass crossbow for the office…Its just an excerpt from John Austin’s must-read new book Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction.
