Oh god, there goes another day… GemCraft

Tuesday August 4th, 2009 in Sweet Links | 1 Comment »

gemcraft

I’ve been linked to another flash game that has somehow managed to steal nearly 2 days of work away from me… I hope my employer doesn’t read my blog! OH WAIT HE DOES!

Its another tower defense game with a twist. You get gems to activate a tower, and can redeploy as often as you feel you need to, with nothing more than a slight time delay. Unlike most turret defense games out there, this one actually takes a while to figure out the right patterns and schemes to successfully stop the waves of baddies. Give it a try if you find you’re bored or have a few days to devote to a stupid flash game… <sigh>

Artsy: Watercolour Painting Prodigy Child

Friday July 31st, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Country life

I warn you now, this post has a lot more artsy element than most that will ever appear on the site, but I really felt I had to share it anyway. Above is a picture painted by a 6 year old… I don’t know about you but when I was 6, my artwork looked very different.

Experts have said that the six-year-old’s atmospheric paintings, which began with harbour scenes and expanded to include rural vistas, animal portraits and landmarks, have perspective, shadow and reflections that demonstrate an ability well beyond his years.

Hit the jump for the full collection and a link to the news article…

Not Cute: iPhone Robot

Thursday July 30th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Yep the Japanese are at it again. This time they thought it would be sweet to build a robot out of an iPhone 3GS and then program the little bastard to do things… LIKE LEARN! (scroll to 0:43)
Am I seriously not getting through to people? I guess the good thing is that this robot couldn’t sneak up on you because its servo’s are louder than a heard of giraffes in a wood-chipper! The best part is that they use an iPhone to control the damn thing. Even if this single robot wasn’t smart enough to attack people, then a different robot could control every iPhone robot that exists! Prepare for the iPhone robot army of doom if this ever gets beyond prototype! :(

Thanks to blueviva for the heads up on this one, who I really hope isn’t a robot just playing me…

OLD: Escapa!

escapa

A few years ago I starting hosting a javascript game on my members page here at WritheM and found that it was getting plenty of attention… I guess because its so addicting. Today I received a link to it from a co-worker challenging me that I couldn’t beat her score. I promptly beat her score and even sent her the above screenshot… That’ll learn them to send me links to my own website! *grin*
There are plenty of places this has appeared to be hosted on the internet… so give it a try if you havn’t already.

PS. If you get anything higher than 35 seconds, you’re a cheater. If you actually beat my score (without cheating), post your time in the comments.

Escapa!

I’ll take 3: Vortex Cannon

I wonder what the reload time is like on this thing… If its short enough, it would be a sweet new paintball gun for me! Just load up 500 paintballs and shoot it at people on the otherside of the forest… “got ya!”. Spoiler Alert: the last house isn’t a house, its a wall. cheater.

Let the Excitment Begin: Tron Legecy

Monday July 27th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

okay wow… I just watched this video and it actually looks like the movie could be good. you’ll have to hit this link in order to get the real trailer, but the mashup video of Michael Jackson’s beat it and the tron trailer looks pretty sweet too, so I linked it above. (oh btw, the official trailer takes a while to load, so you may want to have it load up in another window while you watch the mash up video)

Brainwash-alishious: Birdy Nam Nam…

*monotone voice* I have no idea what this is, or why I couldn’t look away. What I do know is that you should also watch it. You see I have been wrong all this time in thinking that Robots controlling us is wrong. More importantly though, our new masters will be kind. We should all obey. I denounce my hate for robots… yes, the robots will be just and fair with their judgement.

Fluke: Hole in One off another player.

Monday July 27th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Man its a busy news day. Maybe that has something with being that its my first day back on the interwebs. Oh how I’ve missed thee. In an effort to include all things awesome on the blog I figured what the hey, why not post another entry today (even though I’ve posted like 10 stories already). Here is one of the highlighted shots of Leif Olson’s, 15th hole, par 3, shot in one in the RBC Canadian Classic on Saturday. Total fluke if you ask me… this one time I got a hole in one on a par 5 while being chased by a dinosaur.
