Poke-her-face mashup… is that really what she’s saying?

Wednesday November 18th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Here’s another mash-up video that isn’t worth watching all the way through… But its still creative enough to be mentioned today. Watching about 30 seconds worth is totally worth it, but may I just make a suggestion to the creator of the video? Less Gaga, more Cartman! And to make a joke about Lady Gaga that I’m sure has been made a thousand times now: I wouldn’t Poke-Her-Face anyway!

Treehouse Win

tallest_treehouse_01

Did you ever wish you had the best treehouse on the street when you were kid? I’m pretty sure this guy did… because he grew up and built one of the coolest tree-houses I’ve ever seen! Only second to the one I made out of blankets and rusty nails when I was 7… I just dont get why my mother was so upset when she found that I put the nails THROUGH the blankets. *shrug* Hit the jump for more pictures of the feat.

It’s not Mega-Man but it’s still pretty creative!

DSC00177

When CrimsonLinks reader Bill submitted these photos for concideration the first thing I thought I read was Mega-Man. So clearly you can see why I was let down when I clicked the link and the Magnet-Man he constructed entirely out of super strong hard drive magenets, didn’t look much like mega-man. Hit the jump for another view of the creature. And it’s okay, Bill assured me its not mechanized, so there isn’t any chance of it killing anyone… Wait did it just cough?! IS IT SPREADING H1N1?! Damn you Bill!!!!

Above Amazing: LEGO Pop-up book

Thursday November 12th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

For my 150′th post to CL I thought I’d post about Two things I loved as a child: LEGO, and popup books. I never thought I’d see the day where some genius put the two together and it wasn’t just a popup book with pictures of LEGO mens. Well this one time I did make a really sweet LEGO car that had like 26 different ways it could shoot or kill other LEGO mens (yes I still have it on my computer desk), but nothing near half as good as this creation. What do you mean those two stories aren’t related?! YES THEY ARE!!

Holy Sadistically Powered Light Source, Batman! Blood Lamp!

Monday September 28th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Blood_Lamp4

Are you wondering which invention this year is going to win the most sadistic design award? Look no further than the blood lamp. It can only be used once, and forces the individual to cut themselves in order for it to work. Great excuse for all those EMO kids out there now. The lamp’s creater claims he invented it to create an awareness of power usage, but we all know he’s just a little creepier than that. Video and a few more pictures after the break.

A Glorious Dawn = A Glorious Video

Monday September 28th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

We’ve all seen some of the Auto-tune videos that have surfaced in the last 6 months on the internet, but this one caught my eye. Instead of auto-tuning the news this time, they’ve auto-tuned a science video from the 70′s. Man they were so naive back then… but Hawking was still in a chair! Hmm… I wonder if his chair has the auto-tune built into it? The video took a couple watchings to catch all the lyrics so you may need to do the same.

The best line is: “if you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe”. I love pie.

Well I was being sincere! Anyway… Some of these are actually really inventive,s o you should hit the jump for all the pics.

Video Mapped Projections Can Really Get the Party Started!

Tuesday September 15th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Projected onto the side of my house, Video Mapped Projections can really make the building look like its doing anything. It’s just so vibrant… no wonder I couldn’t sleep last week! Damn hooligans! The video is kinda lengthy, but I didn’t even realize that it was as long as it was until it was nearly done. Which speaks well to it. Check it out…

Life Sized Papercraft best I’ve ever not stolen! … YET. Link

This is hands down the best papercraft I’ve ever seen, and not stolen or attempted to make myself! Ask anyone I work with and they’ll tell you I like papercraft. I even have a papercraft ceiling cat at my desk that watches me “work” all day. But unlike most papercraft sets I’ve seen, with full instructions, this is certainly not one I could attempt. Hit the jump for the full gallery and a link back to the sets which has all the videos of how the creator has put it together. Be warned, its mind blowingly complex! I do however have one question: why wouldn’t he make a Zelda or Zora instead of a Link? Anyone?…

Too much time on his hands: Stan Munro’s Toothpick city

Friday September 11th, 2009 in Sweet Links | 1 Comment »

toothpick1

What happens when your wife leaves you and you get fired from your cival engineering job? Well chances are you already have a bajillion toothpicks in your basement, because lets face it… who doesn’t? So you could put all that time and toothpicks to use and come up with a new hobby. Toothpick city building sounds like a good choice! Although my story isn’t very likely to be Stan Munro’s story, he’s still found the time to use those bajillion toothpicks to build a city. He’s got plenty of the recognizable buildings from around the world too. Very impressive Stan. Full collection and a link back to the original set after the break.
