Review: The Hangover

Friday June 19th, 2009 in TV/Cinema/Music | No comments »

If you know me, and you know my distaste for the way comedies seem be headed as of late… You’ll understand my poor review for The Hangover. I’ve tried writing a few things about this movie, but this movie was so un-intelligent that I can’t seem to write an intelligent review for it! After walking out of the theatre I actually felt dumber. Hit the jump for my attempt at a full review…

Review: The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

I’ve always felt that if a movie has plot holes, the writers can easily overcome most of them by just mentioning them… Like if you’re on a space ship that seems to have gravity then as long as a character makes mention of a “gravity generator”, its all good. Because this movie is a remake of an original, there were obvious plot holes in the first version of the movie as well. I really like how this movie kept those plot holes, but made reference to them, and this helped make fun of the original a little. Although the new version had quite a bit of similarities, there was a lot of unnecessary rewriting in order to ‘modernize’ the film. Agreed, you can’t ask for $1 million for a ransom like you could back in 1974, however there was a lot of changes, that the writers made that they probably shouldn’t have. Hit the jump for my full review including a couple of comparisons from the original to the remake…

So I just got home from seeing this movie for the 4th time in theatres, and if that isn’t enough of a hint to get off your rear and see this movie for yourself (directed at those who havn’t of course) then I urge you to find the nearest object to hit yourself in the head with… maybe that’ll knock some sence into you. This movie is easily the best movie of the year and for someone who sees practically every movie in theatres, that review doesn’t come lightly. Hit the jump for the actuall review, instead of just my rant urging you to see it yourself…

Review: Terminator Salvation

So for someone who still hasn’t seen the third terminator movie, I really dont feel like I’ve missed much! This movie picks up at the year 2018 after judgement day… and as long as you’ve seen the first 2 Terminator movies, I think you’de be fine with seeing this one. Right from the get go, this movie throws the viewer into the action of our post appocaliptic world. One scene near the beginning I was particularly fond of is when a helicopter crashes and the camera is inside looking out… With the volume of the theatre and surround sound it truely makes you feel like you could be there. However it wasn’t all good… the full review, including my rating, after the break

If I had to say there was a moral or message of the movie, I think it would be the same as how I felt about the movie; Have fun. This light hearted movie was great for entertainment despite it starring Ben Stiller. Normally I’m not one to enjoy Stiller or any of his previous movies (other than the first night at the museum movie), but I actually found myself smiling a few times throughout this flick. Amy Adams puts on a great show… and she acts her part quite well too ;-) Click the jump for the full review including my rating…

With a running time of about an hour and a half, pixar again proves that quality is much better than quantity. The movie was shorter than most movies now a days but was much better than a lot of the animated crap out there. If you know me and my dislike for animated movies, then you’ll understand just how exceptional this movie is, because of the rating im giving this movie. I judge animated movies much more hardly than any other genre… the full review, including my rating, can be read after the break.
