Movie Review: The Avengers

Wednesday May 9th, 2012 in TV/Cinema/Music | No comments »

Since the Avengers comic book first debuted almost 50 years ago, this movie has been begging producers to make it. Take the best of the Marvel universe and throw them together haphazardly to fight as a team against the invading armies of a Demigod. Greaaat… This sounds plausible!</sarcasim> The good news is that this still takes place in the same universe that we’ve been introduced to in the origin movies for the characters. That being said, such things like portals opening to another dimension, or rocket powered hover suits are not such a stretch for the mind. Movie Review: The Hunger Games

Thursday April 12th, 2012 in TV/Cinema/Music | No comments »

The Hunger Games takes place in a nation known as Panem after a great civil war, which consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding districts. Annually, as not to forget the great loss of life sustained during the war, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by annual lottery. They participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants (or “tributes”) must fight in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains alive. The movie follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th annual Hunger Games in place of her younger sister. Also selected from District 12 is Peeta Mellark. Hit the jump to read the full review of this movie.

Movie Review: 21 Jump Street

Monday March 19th, 2012 in TV/Cinema/Music | No comments »

I admit when I first heard that 21 Jump Street was being made into a movie I wasn’t too excited. I thought “meh. So there is going to be another T.V show made into a mediocre movie, why should I choose to see this movie in theatres when I can just rent it later?”  Well, for one thing this movie took a comedic route instead of a dramatic one, avoiding all the cliché story lines that would have been borrowed from the original cop drama.  Read the rest of this entry »

Movie Review: Inception

Now that I have seen this movie twice, I think I can actually say I fully understand this brain twister of a movie to its fullest. Unless you’ve seen this movie at least twice I’m not sure that you’ve seen all that you really could see. Hit the jump for my full review and then my take on a few points within the movie.

Movie Review: Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time

Friday June 18th, 2010 in TV/Cinema/Music | 1 Comment »

First off let me state that I haven’t played any of the Prince of Persia games since the original side scrolling edition released in 1989. I do however quite enjoy the Assassin’s Creed games also created by Ubisoft. Now with that in mind, click the jump to read my full review of why I enjoyed this movie as much as I did.

Review: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

You haven’t any idea how difficult it can be to review some of these movies. Especially those in which you’ve enjoyed the book it was based on, as much as I did. Here’s the deal with the most recent Harry Potter movie and more importantly, my review of it: I will be reviewing the movie on an isolated basis. I understand that there was a book, and that’s fine, but the movie is a Hollywood production and cannot possibly make 100% of the details that exist in the book possible on screen. So with that in mind hit the jump if you’re interested in my review of the movie but don’t expect a comparative analysis of the movie to the book. For that you’ll have to read one of the other 1,000 amateur reviews that are on the internet…

So I just got home from seeing this movie for the 4th time in theatres, and if that isn’t enough of a hint to get off your rear and see this movie for yourself (directed at those who havn’t of course) then I urge you to find the nearest object to hit yourself in the head with… maybe that’ll knock some sence into you. This movie is easily the best movie of the year and for someone who sees practically every movie in theatres, that review doesn’t come lightly. Hit the jump for the actuall review, instead of just my rant urging you to see it yourself…

Review: Up

With a running time of about an hour and a half, pixar again proves that quality is much better than quantity. The movie was shorter than most movies now a days but was much better than a lot of the animated crap out there. If you know me and my dislike for animated movies, then you’ll understand just how exceptional this movie is, because of the rating im giving this movie. I judge animated movies much more hardly than any other genre… the full review, including my rating, can be read after the break.
