Sweet $4 coin! Dino-Dollars are real!

dino-money

I really wish this coin wasn’t just for collectors… which really begs the questions: with such an awesome coin as this, why didn’t they make it a $2 coin and put it into circulation immediatly?! Now I have to pay $43 for a $4 coin?! I was never big on spending more for money than the moneies are worth. Its still nice to look at though… that’s for sure.

This is how you should fall down a hill…

I could totally do this… but I could do it on the side of a mountain… covered in snow… and ice… while being naked! Oh yeah you’d like that, wouldn’t you?! Man what a show off!

Youtube’s most viral videos in under 4 minutes

Thursday October 1st, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

As one of my last posts before I go holidays here is a pretty clever video of the most viral videos on YouTube. It’s pretty sweet, and totally worth a watch. How many have you seen prior to this video? I’ve seen all of them, but that’s because I invented YouTube… If you’re interested in knowing what all the videos are there is a list after the break.

A Glorious Dawn = A Glorious Video

Monday September 28th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

We’ve all seen some of the Auto-tune videos that have surfaced in the last 6 months on the internet, but this one caught my eye. Instead of auto-tuning the news this time, they’ve auto-tuned a science video from the 70′s. Man they were so naive back then… but Hawking was still in a chair! Hmm… I wonder if his chair has the auto-tune built into it? The video took a couple watchings to catch all the lyrics so you may need to do the same.

The best line is: “if you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe”. I love pie.

Pictures from Sydney Australia, Not pictures from District 9

sydney dust storm

Apparently there is some breaking news that needs to be posted: Sydney Australia was struck by a massive red dust storm… or …a giant multi-govn’t conspiracy has actually transported the entire city to the surface of Mars! ZAAAP! The pictures do look like the surface of Mars in Total Recall. I call Shenanigans! There are tweets and flickrs being posted almost as fast as we were onto the conspiracy too… Here is just one flickr gallery that is getting quite a bit of attention. Worth a quick look, or maybe more?!

Thanks to Tom for the near instant NewsTip.

Another Chess Set, This time it’s ready for zombies

Tuesday September 22nd, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

zombiechess

Marchingdog.com has been set up to sell this extravagant set of chess pieces… no word on what the chess board looks like. I hope it looked like a decimated village, top down view! They label the set as the Monster Vs. Hunter set, but we all know they mean Zombie Vs. Villager. $400 seems like a lot of cash for a single chess set, but this one in all its badassery is totally worth the price of admittance, unlike the last chess set we featured. Oh and check out the close up picture of the villager queen piece, Yummy.

Student cuts down theif with sword! (+5 to awesome)

samurai

In likely the most bad-ass story of the week, there is a student in Baltimore who had been given the chance to kill an intruder– WITH A SWORD! Not just any sword either, but a full on razor sharp, samurai sword.

Hours earlier, someone had broken into John Pontolillo’s house and taken two laptops and a video-game console. Now it was past midnight, and he heard noises coming from the garage out back. The Johns Hopkins University undergraduate didn’t run. He didn’t call the police. He grabbed his samurai sword.

Props dude… you show him who’s boss! Best of luck with the criminal system now.

Coffee Table that will get you all the ladies!

NESTable7

I promise that if you successfully win this Ebay Auction that you’ll have all the ladies bending over backwards for you… har har! Not because its an original NES Controller coffee table, but because you have waaaay too much money! Hope you don’t mind the gold diggers. Gotta admit its a pretty sweet tribute table to one of the most influential input peripherals of all time though. Too bad it would only be shipping to the U.K. and sold for £300.00. All the pictures I could find are posted after the break, including a link back to the EbayUK auction.

Thanks to Bill for the NewsTip!

Video Mapped Projections Can Really Get the Party Started!

Tuesday September 15th, 2009 in Sweet Links | No comments »

Projected onto the side of my house, Video Mapped Projections can really make the building look like its doing anything. It’s just so vibrant… no wonder I couldn’t sleep last week! Damn hooligans! The video is kinda lengthy, but I didn’t even realize that it was as long as it was until it was nearly done. Which speaks well to it. Check it out…

Life Sized Papercraft best I’ve ever not stolen! … YET. Link

Monday September 14th, 2009 in Sweet Links | 2 Comments »

This is hands down the best papercraft I’ve ever seen, and not stolen or attempted to make myself! Ask anyone I work with and they’ll tell you I like papercraft. I even have a papercraft ceiling cat at my desk that watches me “work” all day. But unlike most papercraft sets I’ve seen, with full instructions, this is certainly not one I could attempt. Hit the jump for the full gallery and a link back to the sets which has all the videos of how the creator has put it together. Be warned, its mind blowingly complex! I do however have one question: why wouldn’t he make a Zelda or Zora instead of a Link? Anyone?…
